Plain explanation

What Microsoft Azure is

Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform. Its practical advantage shows up in organizations already using Microsoft 365, Microsoft identity, and SQL Server, where hosting in Azure keeps logins and administration in one place.

Microsoft's cloud platform, often a natural fit for organizations already using Microsoft identity, .NET, SQL Server, Microsoft 365, or established Azure infrastructure.

How Axis uses it

If your staff already sign in with Microsoft accounts, hosting the application in Azure usually removes a separate login for every user, which is a real day-to-day saving.

Honest assessment

When Microsoft Azure is the right call, and when it is not

Every technology has a range where it performs well and a range where something else is a better answer. We would rather say so up front.

A strong fit when

  • Microsoft identity and infrastructure already matter to the organization
  • .NET and SQL Server are part of the application
  • Internal IT already manages Azure

We would consider another option when

  • The existing environment is firmly AWS-based
  • The application only needs a simple deployment platform and Azure would add unnecessary administration
