What Python is

Python is a general-purpose language known for readable code and an unusually deep library ecosystem for working with data. It is the common choice when a project involves analysis, document processing, or machine learning.

A mature language with strong libraries for data processing, automation, integrations, analytics, and AI-enabled software.

How Axis uses it

We reach for Python when a project centers on data or documents. For a straightforward web API on a TypeScript codebase, we usually stay in one language instead.

Honest assessment

When Python is the right call, and when it is not

Every technology has a range where it performs well and a range where something else is a better answer. We would rather say so up front.

A strong fit when

  • The project works heavily with data
  • A large ecosystem of scientific or AI libraries is useful
  • Automation or back-office processing matters more than browser code reuse

We would consider another option when

  • A single TypeScript stack would simplify a small web product
  • The organization has an established .NET team and no Python operations experience
